Bucky the Badger

You may be wondering how we came to have a badger as our mascot (even though he is a very trendy fellow). It all began in a partnership with the Calgary Zoo over fifteen years ago. At that time, the Calgary Zoo offered to schools, the opportunity to adopt an animal at the zoo. We originally adopted a Swift Fox but unfortunately after a couple of years, our swift fox was traded to another zoo. We were asked if we wanted to adopt another animal and we asked if they had any animals that began with the letter B. Well, you guessed it- the only animal available that began with the letter B was a badger. When we made the decision to order school T-shirts with our mascot on them we had an artist come up with our current, kid-friendly version of Bucky the Badger. Although we no longer have a partnership with the Zoo, Bucky has remained our mascot over the years. Look for him on our gymnasium wall!!
