News from ProvincialsBased on their superior results in the Drumheller and District Music Festival the Senior Choir was recommended to compete in the Alberta Music Festival Provincial Choral Finals in Edmonton, at McDougall United Church on Friday May 7th. The choir members worked very hard to reach this goal and and enjoyed an exciting trip! They sang The Gypsy Rover and the Tailor of Gloucester. On the return trip they travelled to Red Deer to the Collicutt Centre: Enmax Water Park. As always, our students represented Brentwood School and the Drumheller Festival extremely well. Thanks to all the parents and teachers who travelled with us and to our wonderful accompanist, Kathie Zakresky, who once again has donated her time on our behalf!! Special thanks to our parents who made generous donations of $700 toward this trip. Our appreciation also goes out to our Parent Council for their generous donation toward our big day!!
Music Monday - May 3, 2010On Monday, May 3rd, at 11:45 pm, Brentwood School joined other schools across Canada in the celebration of Music Monday. This was a day to recognize the importance of Music Education in the lives of our students and to celebrate it. Music Students across Canada joined in the singing and or playing of "Sing Sing", a song composed by Serena Ryder. The Senior Choir performed two songs in preparation for their trip to the Alberta Music Festival Provincial Choral Finals in Edmonton on Friday, May 7, 2010. All three of our choirs, our accompanists, and our instrumentalists were recognized that day as a part of the celebration. The grade six students gave a sneak preview of their upcoming performance of High School Musical !!
